Ghanaian artist Yaw Ray releases his new six track EP “Ray & Beats,” a melodic and personal project exploring his relationship with beats, instruments, love, and the thoughts that often become music.
The Story Behind The “Ray & Beats” EP
“Ray & Beats” comes from Yaw Ray’s lifelong relationship with beats and his instinct to create whenever he hears one. From imagining his own melodies to finding inspiration in the sound of a saxophone, guitar, or piano, music has always given him a space to explore ideas and create something of his own.
The EP features “Go,” “You,” “No Man,” “Sing Along,” “No More,” and “Keys,” the project’s lead single. Together, the songs explore the melodic and emotional side of Yaw Ray’s creativity while giving listeners a different space to experience his music.
Rather than making music simply for the noise around it, “Ray & Beats” is made for quieter moments. It is music for being alone, making plans, spending time with family, or simply sitting with your thoughts and letting the music play.
Yaw Ray shares, “R&B has always meant Rhythm and Blues, but for me, this project means Ray & Beats. I’m not just singing on beats. I’m creating with them. This is the kind of music I want you to put on when it’s late, your headphones are on, and you’re just thinking about life or that one person.

The cover places Yaw Ray in his own room, surrounded by the things that reflect who he is as an artist and as a person.
